The benefits of synthetic fibers with those of wool, providing thermal insulation while wicking away sweat and drying quickly. So the new fibers will more suit in very high humid for example Taiwan and other southeast Asia countries. Contrarily, 100% PET fiber or filament are not suitable.

It was nice to see Gore-tex have had new branding follows less the technical description of the laminates, but describes better their application, facilitating the right purchase decisions at the point of sale.

From this time, consumer are easy to recognize this brand. it's a very good marketing trategy.

Best regards,

I think that Patagonia are expressing an opinion that many people share. Companies of all types need to sell their products and services to remain viable. And, there is a bigger picture in a world populated by 7 billion plus people, with seismic shifts in the economic and political landscape that will take years to work through. Patagonia have a deserved reputation for a clarity of vision and, with this call out, they express with authority something felt widely, and of increasing relevance.

Attitudes like "avoid debt", "make do and mend" were some of the mainstream values of previous generations, and are being rediscovered now consumerism is "evolving". For my part I have listed on eBay five items of branded clothing in the past week, including snowboarding protection, ski jackets and hoodies. In the Uk we have a well established network of charity shops where I regularly and successfully look for good used branded clothing. I get some brilliant bargains and feel good about contributing to good causes. I promote this approach to my teenage children. Interesting though that I look for good branded clothing - because it is good quality and wears better!

And finally this story on the BBC about the positive repurposing of counterfeit goods by a UK charity, another emotive subject, is worth sharing as it illustartes what can be achieved by going that little bit further, making the difference in the face of criminality, apathy and downright ignorance! http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-16058275
